Nissen Huts

V.J. Day Party

Malcolm on his third birthday sitting on his present, a second-hand Triang tricycle; and with a friend on something more advanced. In the background, Rosemary’s pram.
Running parallel to the path was a wire fence beyond which was a railway line to provide entertainment for young boys. The line now forms the Snaresbrook branch of the Central Line but at this time it was part of the L.N.E.R network. The tube map of the time showing the Central Line terminating at Liverpool Street may be seen
here.

Rosemary sleeps while among the nearby lakes and sandy areas older children picnic and pretend they are at the seaside.
