Cripley Road

Minley Estate

Eight photographs below have been kindly supplied by Philip Fouracre who lived with his brother John in one of the houses shown immediately below. His mother still lives in the same house (2009). The remaining three are from Tony Hazell’s family album.
Some of the larger versions of these photographs provide a wider view of the surroundings.
Unmade roadBirthday party
Beyond the houses the unmade road which led to the woods. The track to the woods remained unmade for many years afterwards. The section of road shown later became the terminus for the No. 3d bus to Aldershot and also led to some lock up garages where the fortunate few could keep their cars, one is just visible in the snow scene. Leslie Knight used one for his ancient Austin 12 before managing to get one nearer home at the lower end of Broomhill Road.
(Photos by Frank Hazell - unmade road circa 1949.)
